Party in our apartment

Party in our apartment

When using a peer trust type of organisation like couchsurfing.com you are always taking at least some degree of risk. I have heard my own fair share of couchsurfing horror stories and it is something you have to be prepared for. Of course there is always the flipside of the coin…that is to say sometimes it is simply perfect. In Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, not only did my Swedish travelling buddy and I luck out in having an entire crew of young Bulgarians with great English to take us on all sorts of day and hiking trips but we also got our own apartment! It turned out our host did not actually live in the apartment she was offering for us to stay in. It had barely been used and was fully furnished. I couldn’t believe my luck, especially considering the housing conditions experienced by many of the locals in the poorer parts of the capitals of Eastern Europe. Our host even had us host a party of our own in the apartment! , a lot longer than I originally planned to. So remember, much like a lot of extreme activities available in Europe, doing something that is just a little risky can really pay off and be very fun and exciting…in this case it was also quite relaxing.

I’ve also met some great people using couchsurfing.com. I recommend it, especially if you are on a low budget.
