The Windy City…in Slovakia

Bratislava is a nice enough city. I didn’t spend too much time there and to be brutally honest I didn’t try too hard to get around to all the sights or speak to too many locals. One thing I will never forget though is the wind. Even after a recent long spell of coastline in Croatia and a couple of trips to the huge Lake Balaton in Hungary, the wind had been something that was never very imposing in Eastern Europe. Apparently that’s because all the wind was hiding in Bratislava.
Having quite long hair at the time, and not being the type of person to tie it back, this became quite an annoyance for me. In my opinion wind is good for kites and sailors and little else. I realise this is quite cynical but I feel my view of what Bratislava had to offer was hampered by the thousands of hair constantly battering my eyes when I faced the wrong direction. Thank god I had my camera so I could look at everything I saw a little later …while inside.
