Death and Reality

More dangerous than it looks
San Fermin, the running of the bulls in Spain, is one of the most dangerous festivals in the world. From the bull running itself to the crazy atmosphere and the excessive drinking, there are a lot of injuries and even deaths that occur in the festival. Most of these deaths are of course due to people being gored by the bulls themselves or trampled by the hundreds of other frantic fleeing runners. It had been years since there was a death at the festival but the drought was broken while I was there…and not in the way you would expect.
Drinking and partying while you travel is a big part of seeing the world in your youth and something I fully condone, recommend and appreciate. But if you are in a foreign place and especially if you are travelling alone you should always remember in the back of your mind that things work differently than they do at home. You don’t have your friends and family to help you out if something goes wrong so you should always make sure you are in a safe environment. I took these photos of huge walls around the city of Pamplona the day before a drunken tourist fell from them to his death.
Have fun, go wild, be crazy but just know when enough is enough and make sure you where you are, what you are doing and most importantly that you are safe.

An eerie scene
