My fave post was titled Pondering the Future of Books. I have a Kindle, but I also have about 2,000 pounds of beloved books. There are pros and cons for each, of course, but my biggest concern? If I drop my book, I say, well, great, I lost my page. If I drop my Kindle…I cuss.

Well, in an “older post” of the Top Stories I saw an article about Carnaval. The costumes worn were mentioned and the picture shown with the article displays a Venetian carnival mask. It never occurred to me before, but since that mask was extremely beautiful and interesting, I pondered about the other masks in existence that I’ve never seen. Because of their asthetic value, I would like to use that mask–or another that is probably just as beautiful–as a wall ornament (like a picture or a painting would be used on the wall).

I liked the article on GlobalShift about the siting of the rare, clouded leopard. This reminded me of the also very elusive cat called the snow leopard. I have followed the snow leopard for decades when, early on, they were actually in danger of becoming extinct.

Although I do want a Kindle, I love the smell of books, and the feel of the pages in my hands. It was only recently that I decided that I want a Kindle, but only for travel purposes. I move around so much, it’s a pain to move my books all the time! But I don’t want books to die. That would be bad.
