fjordMegan Eaves is an avid traveler, writer, musician, explorer, teacher and free spirit. She speaks Mandarin Chinese and Spanish and spends most of her time writing freelance travel articles, teaching and traveling. She has lived and worked in China on several occasions, and spent nearly two years in Ireland finishing her Master’s degree in Intercultural Studies at Dublin City University. She is the author of a book called This is China: A Guidebook for Teachers, Backpackers and Other Lunatics, and was lucky enough to marry a good Irish boy from Dublin. Among her list of favorite European spots are the western Connemara region of Ireland, the Danube valley in Austria, Madrid and Dublin on a sunny day.

Lizelle

Born and raised in Southern California, Lizelle Jackson’s first trip to Europe came at the age of 13, when she traveled to the UK as a Student Ambassador for People to People. One trip was all it took to wet her appetite for travel abroad, and trips back to Europe ensued soon after. Embracing other cultures has always been one of Lizelle’s passions – something her family instilled in her at a young age when they hosted the first of their three foreign exchange students.

Lizelle was a collegiate athlete in volleyball and soccer in Long Island University in Brooklyn, NY, which led to her current post as a professional volleyball player in Switzerland, where she is currently studying French. She recently completed a month-long backpacking trip around Europe, visiting Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Holland, Belgium and France. Lizelle loves having the opportunity to live abroad and experience another culture first hand, and she hopes to continue to do so for years to come.

David Ferris is a 25-year-old graduate of Columbia University and after seven fantastic years in New York City, he recently relocated to the south of Spain to teach English. He is passionate about music, politics, travel and food and after his year in Europe hopes to spend a year in Latin America doing some spectacular thing of an unspecified nature.

Krista

Krista Stryker recently graduated from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon where she focused on International Relations and Communication. A year ago, she moved to Amsterdam, where she has been writing and traveling as much as possible. She loves learning about new cultures, finding outdoor activities across Europe and, of course, sampling all the different European foods.

saraSara Harding was bitten by the travel bug (and a large number of mosquitoes) on a trip to Cyprus the summer after her freshmen year. She studied abroad at University College Cork in Ireland and now spends every available opportunity backpacking through Europe, particularly the warm and sun-kissed countries of the Mediterranean.

Sara loves the outdoors and some of her favorite travel activities are hiking, mountain biking and swimming. She also loves art, history and experimenting with unusual regional cuisines (baked snails, anyone?). Sara’s favorite thing about Europe is that just a few hours on a train can take you from one amazing culture to a different amazing culture. The only downside to Europe is that it’s so hard to find a good hamburger!

After finishing his Bachelor of Media and Communications in Australia, Francis Nicholls-Wunder left to see as much of the world as he could before running out of money and will power. He has been traveling through Asia, Europe and North America since March of 2007, and he’s not due home until almost two years after his departure date.

As well as a detailed history working in various aspects of Australian broadcast media, including nationwide television stations and citywide radio stations, Francis has written for companies such as Andovar, Laneway Magazine and Student Stuff.

nyLaura Carroll has been traveling all her life – first around the States in a beat-up motor home, and eventually overseas. She spent a semester living and studying in Paris and has taken numerous excursions to different European locales, but is and probably always will be a francophile at heart.

Laura has a keen interest in travel, contemporary art, piano and literature. She speaks French, has a Bachelor’s degree in Magazine Journalism and is Managing Editor of StudentsInEurope.com
